The Goromonzi Project
sends aid for programs that support the orphans and vulnerable
children through long-term sponsorships. Sponsors commit to providing for
their child through high school or vocational training. Assistance is given
in keeping with traditional practices of caring for orphans and vulnerable
children within the community. We identify children needing support and potential
adult caregivers. We provide the children one meal per day. We pay for school
tuition, uniforms and supplies. Healthcare is provided on an as-needed basis.
We have helped the community pay for bricks and mortar to build a hand-dug
well as a backup to the electric well. We have also funded a new pump for
the well that was struck by lightning. We provide a small monthly stipend
to volunteer coordinators, healthcare workers and preschool teachers and
also food for children who do not yet have sponsors. Currently we sponsor
nearly 100 children.
The Goromonzi Project works closely
with a local Goromonzi based organization, God help Us Children’s
Organization (GHUCO). Pastor Sikiyani founded GHUCO. It consists
of 12 leaders in the community who are committed to the long-term
success and sustainability of Goromonzi.
